Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day 12: Intro Recs (Sherlock)
I am way behind, because this one was impossible. I don't even know where to begin in Aubreyad, and that is a much smaller fandom. But y'all are already in it, so you know, anyway. So I decided to see if I could find a few Sherlock fics that might lure you into testing the waters. Or amuse you for a few minutes, anyway :-) At least show you why I like it.
Sherlock
As I've mentioned before, one of the reasons I like Sherlock fandom is because the canon is still open to a very wide range of interpretations, and it supports every kind of genre available: drama, slash, every exploration of sexuality and gender issues possible, case!fic, dark!fic, fluff, crack, AUs and crossovers and fusions of every kind imaginable. I mean it. Everything.
With that and the sheer volume of fic written makes it hard to narrow down to just three. I did it by not including any author I've already rec'ced.
1. Genius Loci. Sherlock Holmes is strongly linked to London; he knows the city inside and out. London also knows Sherlock Holmes.
2. What To Do When Your Flatmate Is Homicidal. Pure unadulterated hilarious crack.
3. Buthal. A twisted fairy tale. Eminently suitable to the Sherlock fandom.
If you have a favourite genre - fluff, slash, cuddle!fic, dark!fic, a particular kink, magical realism, a crossover or fusion, anything at all - and are interested in checking out a Sherlock fic of that type, let me know and I can point you in the right direction. Anything :-)
